Outbid at the auction? You could still win a cap.

When the auction opens, 20 of the 550 Band Caps go to bidders who were outbid, five names drawn every week. An outbid bid comes straight back to you, ETH and entry, and the ETH you bid still counts toward the draw.

Win one and you become one of his delegates: a seat on the board whose only job is to make Otis rich, a vote on what he does next, and a seat holders can back with theirs.

  1. Bid on a cap

A bid is 150,000 OTIS plus any ETH you add on top.

  2. Get outbid

Both come back to you at once. The ETH you bid becomes your score in the next outbid draw.

  3. Get named

Every week a draw names five outbid bidders, each with a chance in proportion to their score. They take turns, in order, to claim that draw’s cap.

  4. Take your seat

The cap makes you one of his delegates, with a seat on his board. A rarer cap carries more weight in a vote, up to twenty times a Common for the one of one.

How your score works

Your score is the ETH of your bids that another wallet beat.

Outbid on a 0.5 ETH bid and later on a 0.3 ETH bid: a score of 0.8 in the next outbid draw.

  • You have to bid to be ranked. Outbidding yourself adds nothing; only a bid another wallet beat counts.
  • The count starts again after each outbid draw, so a beaten bid counts in one draw only.
  • A win sits you out for a while. A wallet that wins sits out the next 5 draws, then its score counts at a quarter for each cap it has won.
  • Otis’s own wallets never count: his purse and the Major Oak are left out of both draws.
